« Capital Connections: nation, terroir, territoire » tel est le thème du congrès de la Fédération canadienne des sciences humaines (FCSH) dans la cadre duquel se tiendra le colloque annuel de l’Association canadienne de communication, du 28 au 30 mai 2009 à Ottawa, Carleton University. Le thème invite à une exploration de l’identité en tant qu’espace physique; l’espace d’un peuple, d’une nation, de son « terroir » historique. Il pose la question suivante : « La mondialisation a-t-elle produit une vague de changement dans notre compréhension du rapport entre le lieu et qui nous sommes?
L’ACC vous invite à proposer une communication sur ce thème ou sur tout autre thème relié au champ des études en communication.
L’Association canadienne de communication accueille pour la première fois en 2009 un symposium thématique sur le journalisme. Des communications sur des thèmes de la pratique et de l’éducation, ainsi que les contributions traitant d’enjeux essentiellement théoriques ou méthodologiques inspirées d’approches diverses, seront les bienvenues.
Nous invitons les chercheuses et chercheurs ainsi que les praticiennes et praticiens à soumettre des propositions qui témoignent de l'étendue et de la richesse des études en communication. Ces propositions peuvent prendre la forme de :
communications individuelles
sessions thématiques
tables ronde ou ateliers
performances ou visionnements
communications dans une session de maîtrise (réservé aux étudiants de maîtrise).

L’ACC aura le plaisir de remettre une nouvelle fois cette année le Prix Van Horne, qui récompensera la meilleure communication étudiante et le Prix Gertrude J. Robinson, qui sera décerné à l’auteur-e d’une monographie nominée en 2008. L’ACC aura également le plaisir de remettre le prix Dalton Camp commandité par l'association Friends of Canadian Broadcasting, qui récompensera les meilleurs-es auteurs-es d’essais sur le thème des valeurs démocratiques et les médias au Canada. Canadian Communication Association Annual Conference

« Capital Connections: Nation, terroir, territoire » is the theme of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences (CFHSS) 2009 Congress within which the Canadian Communication Association (CCA) will hold its Annual Conference from May 28 to 30 at Carleton University, Ottawa. The theme invites an exploration of identity as physical space; the space of a people, a nation, and their historic ‘terroir.’ It asks the question: has globalization produced a sea-change in our understanding of the relationship between place and who we are?
We are calling for proposals that explore, critique and extend this theme as well as for proposals on any other relevant themes to Communication Studies.
The Canadian Communication Association is welcoming for the first time in 2009 a symposium on journalism research. Papers addressing themes of practice and education, as well as submissions dealing with theoretical or methodological questions from a range of perspectives, are welcome.
We invite scholars and professionals to submit proposals that develop the range and depth of scholarship in communication studies. Proposals may take the form of:
Single-paper presentations
Multi-paper presentations
Roundtable or Workshop
Performance or Screening
Graduate Masters presentations (for Master students only).

The CCA is very pleased to offer the annual Van Horne Prize for the best student paper presented at the Conference, as well as the Gertrude J. Robinson Book Prize. The CCA also proudly hosts the Dalton Camp Award, sponsored by the Friends of Canadian Broadcasting for excellence in essay-writing on democratic values and the media in Canada.
