Date: July 7th 2010

The American Society for the History of Rhetoric invites submissions for the 2010 Dissertation Award. Dissertations must have been defended between June 1, 2009 and August 31, 2010 to be eligible. Required submission materials include an abstract, table of contents, a representative chapter, and a letter of recommendation from the dissertation advisor or a committee member. Submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
significance of the work's contribution to the history of rhetorical theory, practice, and/or pedagogy, quality of archival or primary research and contribution to historiographic practice, and quality of writing. 
Finalists will be asked to submit a copy of the completed dissertation.

Please submit all materials via e-mail (MS Word or PDF) to the selection committee chair, Claudia Carlos, atccarlos@andrew.cmu.edu. The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2010.
